Forget sourdough, meet motherbush!

Forget sourdough, meet motherbush!

It all starts with her...

and look at those roots!

This is a mother garden.

A garden filled with tea bushes that have been growing for many years.

They have been established as the best kind of tea plants for this particular area.

Mother bushes.

They will be resistant to bugs and tricky weather conditions.

They will be strong.

New tea fields are planted using cuttings taken from the mother bushes to ensures the quality stays top as more tea is produced.

All of the tea bushes planted by the smallholder farmers who grow SPILL tea were made from the Rugabano Mother Garden.

So they have the very best start.

And look at those roots!

You can learn more about how SPILL tea is grown and how our partners, ROS (Rugabano Outgrower Services) are giving smallholder farmers in Rwanda the opportunity and expertise to become tea farmers here
